Code 75 track (with a rail height of 0.075 inches) is far more accurate. If you scaled this up it would this time be 3% lower than the real thing. It's still not perfect, but it's much closer to the mark than Set Track. Codes 100 and 75 are the most common but there are other varieties:

With the latest code 75 bullhead turnouts Peco have addressed these issues with their Unifrog solution. The frog is now very small, but made of metal and isolated.

The track on Colin Chisem's Horsley Wood Goods is Peco Streamline Code 75 and shows how realistic it looks with careful ballasting and weathering. A bridge like the one in this picture can be constructed from the Peco LK-34 kit.. Don Mason's Orford is a OO gauge layout which displays the realism that can be achieved using Peco Streamline.

Code 75 Peco OO Scale Track The Peco Code 75 track is in OO scale and has a UK appearance. North American Equipment runs well on Peco track. The flangeways on the Code 75 turnouts are wider than the North American Standard so equipment with semi-scale wheels may drop into the frogs.

Peco make a code 75/100 transition piece, SL-113. The code 75 track will need support slightly by a 'thin piece of plastikard'. I am not sure quite how thin but I am sure a sheet each of 10 & 20 thou will allow you experiment to raise it sufficiently.

PECO SL106F HO/OO Code 75 N/Silver Bibloc Track
Having dismantled my previous layout I am debating whether to use DCC concepts stainless steel track or the new PECO code 75 bullhead track. If there is anybody using either of these how do you rate them and which one would you recommend. Ian Rice in his book on building trackwork recommends steel track.
SL113 Peco Transition Track for joining Code 75 to Code 100
The height of the rail is described as "code" and the size in thousands of an inch. In OO gauge, code 100 track is the original with a rail height of 0.1 inches. Although this has worked just fine in the past, the newer code 75 track with a rail height of just 0.075 inches is aesthetically much more appealing. There is still compromise involved.
